Codi, the Andreessen Horowitz (a16z)-backed startup, has officially unveiled its groundbreaking AI agent office manager, a platform designed to fully automate workplace management. The launch marks a major leap for the San Francisco-based company, redefining how businesses manage offices in the hybrid work era.

Founded in 2018 by Christelle Rohaut and Dave Schuman, Codi initially served as a flexible office marketplace. The platform connected companies to short-term or adaptable office spaces and assisted with move-ins. But with the evolution of artificial intelligence, the company is now pivoting toward intelligent automation.
From Marketplace to AI-Powered Platform
Rohaut explained that Codi’s team used to manually handle office space coordination and vendor management. Now, thanks to AI innovation, those tasks can be automated end-to-end.
“The previous model of Codi required clients to lease space through us,” Rohaut said. “Now, no matter where you rent your office, our AI system can automate logistics, vendor communication, and operations.”
This evolution has transformed Codi into a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) product that acts as a smart, virtual office manager—reducing administrative overhead and freeing teams to focus on productivity.
Beta Testing and Official Launch
Codi’s AI agent office manager entered beta testing in May 2025 and officially launched on October 21. The startup has already raised $23 million to date, including a $16 million Series A led by a16z in 2022.
With backing from one of Silicon Valley’s most influential venture firms, Codi is positioning itself as a frontrunner in the growing AI workplace automation sector.

As companies push for return-to-office (RTO) strategies across the U.S., the need for efficient office management tools has surged. Rohaut noted that traditional office management remains “manual and broken,” often costing companies upwards of $80,000 annually in administrative expenses.
Codi’s AI-driven system aims to tackle this inefficiency by handling tasks like vendor coordination, supply tracking, maintenance scheduling, and event planning—all through intelligent automation.

The role of an office manager has evolved significantly since the pandemic. Many organizations shifted to remote or hybrid models, leaving traditional office manager positions either reduced or redefined.
