Microsoft Preparing Clipboard Sync Between Windows and Android with Gboard Support
Microsoft is preparing clipboard sync between Windows and Android with Gboard support, giving users a seamless way to copy and paste across devices. The feature, spotted in early Windows 11 Dev builds, integrates with the Phone Link app and could soon make cross-device workflows much smoother.

Clipboard sync between Windows and Android isn’t new, but reliable solutions have been scarce due to changes in how Android manages clipboard data. Now, Microsoft is developing its own native option that works directly within the Phone Link ecosystem.
Windows Latest discovered a new “Access PC’s clipboard” toggle inside Phone Link. When enabled, it allows content from the Windows clipboard to sync instantly with Android devices.
Works with Gboard and Other Keyboards
One of the biggest highlights is that this new feature isn’t locked to Microsoft’s own SwiftKey. Instead, it syncs with the system clipboard, which means it works smoothly with Gboard and Samsung Keyboard. Interestingly, SwiftKey itself reportedly had more issues than Google’s Gboard in early testing.
Early Testing and Availability
Currently, clipboard sync is only available in early Windows 11 Dev builds, and Microsoft hasn’t announced a timeline for wider rollout. However, the feature already appears to work well in testing, suggesting it could make its way to public builds in the near future.
For those who regularly switch between PC and phone, this addition could save time and reduce friction in everyday tasks. Copying text, links, or other snippets on Windows and instantly pasting them into Gboard on Android could soon be the norm.
