Windows 11 is adding another Copilot button nobody asked for
Windows 11 is adding another Copilot button nobody asked for, and users are already questioning why. The latest Insider Preview reveals a new “Share with Copilot” option that pops up when you hover over an open app in your taskbar. Instead of simplifying things, Microsoft seems determined to put Copilot everywhere — whether people want it or not.

When you hover over a window in the taskbar, you’ll see a new “Share with Copilot” button. Click it, and Copilot Vision scans the contents of that window, analyzes what’s on your screen, and lets you chat about it with Microsoft’s AI.
For example, you can ask Copilot to identify a photo, explain a diagram, or even walk you through tutorials. It’s essentially turning every open app into a direct line to Microsoft’s chatbot.
Copilot is already everywhere in Windows 11
The problem? Users aren’t exactly asking for more Copilot buttons. Windows 11 already has Copilot shortcuts in Paint, Notepad, the taskbar, your keyboard, and even on the front of some PCs.
This new addition feels more like clutter than convenience. Instead of improving the experience, it makes Windows 11 look increasingly crowded with AI integrations.
A more useful Copilot feature is hiding in the same update
Ironically, the same Insider Preview includes a genuinely helpful feature: on-screen text translation. That’s the kind of practical AI addition people actually want. But instead, Microsoft seems more focused on pushing Copilot into every possible corner of Windows.
Will this Copilot button even survive testing?
Microsoft admits it’s only “trying out this taskbar capability,” which means there’s no guarantee it will stick around. If user feedback is anything to go by, this might be one experiment that quietly disappears in a future update.
