Headquartered in New York, Keychain operates as a distributed company, with its core product development and engineering located in Gurugram, India. With the new $30 million funding, the startup aims to double its India team from 35 to 70 employees in the next few months, eventually reaching around 100. Globally, Keychain’s 70-person workforce includes roughly 20 staff in New York and the remainder in Austin, focusing on partnerships, go-to-market strategy, and sales.

Why India Powers Keychain’s Growth

Keychain’s decision to build its main development hub in Gurugram — India’s second-largest tech hub after Bengaluru — is strategic. The India-based team develops Keychain’s CPG platform for Western clients, already supporting eight of the top 10 retailers, including 7-Eleven and Whole Foods, as well as seven leading CPG brands like General Mills.

CEO and co-founder Oisin Hanrahan emphasizes India’s talent depth and speed:

“It’s the talent, depth, availability, and the speed with which you can access talent of that depth and availability [in India],” Hanrahan said.

Founders and the Vision

Founded in 2023 by Hanrahan, Umang Dua (his co-founder at Handy, later acquired by Angi), and Jordan [last name], Keychain aims to streamline how consumer brands find suitable manufacturers. The company’s expansion in India will fuel its product development, analytics, and design capabilities to better serve North American clients.

With this $30 million raise, CPG startup Keychain snags $30M to build in India, grow in the US, reinforcing its commitment to global growth and positioning itself as a key player in the consumer packaged goods software space.
