Airbnb Now Offers Private Car Pickups in 125 Cities Worldwide
Airbnb has just made traveling to your rental a whole lot smoother. The platform has officially launched a private car pickup service available across 125 cities worldwide, letting guests book a ride directly through the Airbnb app. Whether you are landing in Paris, arriving in Bali, or touching down in Mexico City, your door-to-door experience now begins the moment you book your stay.

What Is the New Airbnb Car Pickup Service
Airbnb is partnering with a global transportation provider, Welcome Pickups, to power this new feature. Once a guest books a stay in one of the 125 supported cities, an option to schedule a private car service will appear automatically in the Trips tab of the Airbnb app. From there, guests can view reservation details and make real-time changes without ever leaving the platform.
The service covers some of the world's most visited destinations, including Paris, Bali, and Mexico City, with more cities set to be added throughout 2026. The integration is seamless, meaning travelers do not need to download a separate app or manage a third-party booking outside of Airbnb.
Airbnb Has Already Been Quietly Testing This
This launch did not happen overnight. Airbnb has been running a pilot program throughout early 2026, focused on Europe and Asia. Thousands of guests participated in the pilot, and the results were striking. The service earned an average guest rating of 4.96 out of 5, a near-perfect score that signals both reliability and satisfaction.
That kind of rating matters. It tells travelers that this is not a rushed feature but a tested, polished addition to the Airbnb experience. High guest satisfaction during the pilot phase gave the company the confidence to scale globally.
Why Airbnb Is Moving Into Transportation
This car pickup launch fits neatly into a much larger strategy Airbnb has been quietly assembling over the past year. Last summer, the company unveiled a full services category, giving guests the ability to book private chefs, catering, massage therapists, photographers, personal trainers, and beauty professionals across eight countries. The goal was clear: make Airbnb the platform guests turn to for everything, not just the bed they sleep in.
In November 2025, Airbnb partnered with a grocery delivery company to let guests order food before and during their stay in select cities across the United States. The car pickup service is the next logical step in this ecosystem. Each new service layer reduces the friction of travel and keeps guests inside the Airbnb platform longer.
Airbnb's Chief Business Officer Dave Stephenson summed it up directly: the partnership with Welcome Pickups is designed to enhance a guest's stay from the very moment they arrive.
Hotels Are Also on the Horizon
Airbnb is not stopping at services. During the company's fourth quarter 2025 earnings call, CEO Brian Chesky made it clear that hotels represent a massive untapped opportunity for the platform. He described the goal as making Airbnb part of a guest's trip regardless of what kind of stay they want. That means traditional hotel rooms could soon sit alongside private homes and unique stays in the same search results.
This shift marks a philosophical evolution for a company that built its entire identity around the idea of staying in someone's home. The pivot toward hotels, services, and now transportation shows that Airbnb is redefining itself as a full travel companion, not just an accommodation marketplace.
What This Means for Everyday Travelers
For the average traveler, this update is genuinely useful. One of the most stressful moments of any trip is the journey from the airport to the rental. Navigating an unfamiliar city, finding a reliable driver, and managing luggage while checking your booking confirmation is a familiar headache. Having a pre-booked, highly rated private car tied directly to your Airbnb reservation removes that friction entirely.
The fact that everything lives inside the Airbnb app is the real selling point here. Travelers already trust the app for their booking details, check-in instructions, and host communication. Adding transportation to that same interface means one less app open on your phone and one less account to manage. That is convenience most travelers will actually notice.
Airbnb Is Becoming a Travel Super App
The private car pickup launch is not a standalone feature. It is a signal. Airbnb is building toward a future where a traveler could book a home, order groceries for arrival, schedule a massage for their second day, hire a photographer for an anniversary dinner, and arrange their airport pickup all from a single platform.
That vision positions Airbnb in direct competition with a much wider set of travel and lifestyle platforms. The company appears to be betting that if it can own more of the travel journey, it becomes harder for guests to leave for a competitor. Each new service deepens that relationship.
For travelers, the direction is exciting. For the travel industry, it is a clear sign that Airbnb has no intention of staying in its lane.
How to Use the Airbnb Car Pickup Feature
Using the new service is straightforward. After booking a stay in one of the 125 supported cities, open the Airbnb app and navigate to the Trips tab. If the car pickup feature is available in your destination, a scheduling option will appear. From there, you can choose your pickup time, review pricing, and confirm your reservation. Any updates or changes can be managed directly within the same tab.
The service is live now and will continue expanding to new cities throughout the rest of 2026. Travelers heading to major European and Asian destinations are likely already covered, with North American and additional global cities expected to follow in the coming months.
