Here Are All the States That Support Digital Driver's Licenses in the iPhone Wallet App
Apple continues to expand digital ID support, making it easier than ever to store your driver’s license or ID directly in the iPhone Wallet app. Currently, 13 states allow residents to add their driver’s licenses or state IDs to Apple Wallet, with more states planning to roll out support soon. Digital IDs in Wallet also work with Apple Watch, providing a convenient, secure, and contactless alternative to physical cards.

As of November 2025, residents in Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota, Ohio, and West Virginia can store their driver’s licenses in the Wallet app. Early adopters like Arizona, Maryland, and Colorado enabled support back in 2022, while states such as Montana, North Dakota, West Virginia, and Illinois joined this year. Puerto Rico residents can also use digital IDs with Apple Wallet.
Which States Will Support Digital IDs in the Future?
Several states have announced plans to adopt Wallet-based digital IDs but have not confirmed exact launch dates. Connecticut, Kentucky, Mississippi, Oklahoma, and Utah are among the upcoming states. While Apple continues to expand availability, residents outside these regions can still take advantage of U.S. passport digital IDs within Wallet for verification and travel purposes.
Can You Use Digital IDs for Travel and Age Verification?
Digital driver’s licenses in Apple Wallet are accepted at TSA checkpoints for domestic flights at most major U.S. airports. Additionally, they can be used for secure age verification at businesses that accept Wallet IDs. Apple’s Digital Passport IDs offer similar functionality for those in states without current Wallet support, ensuring all users can enjoy a contactless, secure ID experience.
