Tigris Data’s Vision To Rival Big Cloud

Founded by the engineers behind Uber’s internal storage platform, Tigris Data aims to redefine how AI data is stored and accessed. Its AI-native storage network promises to “move with your compute,” automatically replicating data near GPUs while supporting billions of small files with ultra-low latency.
This architecture is designed for the realities of AI training, inference, and agentic workloads—where data speed and location directly impact performance and cost.
Building A Network Beyond The Cloud Giants
To bring its vision to life, Tigris Data has raised a $25 million Series A led by Spark Capital, with participation from Andreessen Horowitz and other early investors. The startup is creating a decentralized network of localized data storage centers that match the distributed nature of modern AI compute infrastructure.
By optimizing for proximity and scalability, Tigris hopes to give AI companies the flexibility they lack with traditional cloud vendors.
