A Milestone For Blockchain And Space Technology

The blockchain transaction, sent from Chile to Portugal, validated Spacecoin’s ability to move cryptographic signatures and encrypted data through orbit. Founder Tae Oh explained that the test proved their vision of a decentralized communications backbone is technically possible.

“Without the ability to send cryptographic signatures to space intact, we cannot build permissionless connectivity,” Oh said in a video shared on X. He added that this test was the core mission of CTC-0, a satellite launched with SpaceX in December 2024.

The Role Of CTC-0 And Future Satellites

CTC-0, developed by Endurosat and deployed on a Falcon 9 rideshare, is just the beginning. Spacecoin plans to launch larger prototypes under the CTC-1 program, followed by even more advanced satellites to enhance performance.

This strategy highlights the company’s long-term goal: creating a decentralized satellite internet network that can rival centralized providers like Starlink and Amazon’s Kuiper.

Competing With Starlink’s Global Lead

Starlink has already deployed more than 8,000 satellites, dominating the satellite broadband market with millions of subscribers. Unlike Starlink, however, Spacecoin aims to offer “tokenized access” and a decentralized structure.

The company’s upcoming project, Starmesh, will function as an encrypted internet traffic network. It promises internet freedom, secure browsing, and access to decentralized web services without centralized control.

A Blockchain-Powered Internet

Spacecoin’s internet infrastructure will run on the Creditcoin blockchain, enabling customers to pay for internet access and conduct secure financial transactions. This blockchain integration adds an extra layer of decentralization, connecting internet infrastructure with Web3 economies.

Why This Matters

The successful demonstration shows that blockchain and satellite technology can merge to support a new kind of internet—one that resists censorship, central control, and surveillance. If Spacecoin scales its satellite constellation, it could disrupt the balance of power in global internet infrastructure.
