Base Power Raises $1B To Deploy Home Batteries Everywhere
Base Power raises $1B to deploy home batteries everywhere, marking a massive leap for the Texas-based energy startup. In just two years, the company has become one of the fastest-growing names in home energy storage—and it’s only getting started.

The Austin-based startup had already secured $200 million in funding earlier this year. Now, with this new $1 billion Series C round, led by Addition and joined by CapitalG, Elad Gil, Lightspeed, Ribbit, Thrive Capital, and Valor Equity Partners, Base Power’s total valuation has surged to $3 billion pre-money, according to The New York Times.
Building The Future Of Home Energy Storage
Base Power has already deployed more than 100 megawatt-hours of home storage batteries across Texas. That’s an impressive feat for a company founded just in 2023.
The startup’s approach is simple yet transformative: make home batteries accessible to everyone. Homeowners can lease Base Power batteries instead of buying them outright, dramatically lowering the barrier to entry for clean, reliable backup power.
Affordable Energy Independence For Homeowners
Base Power offers two battery sizes — 25 kWh and 50 kWh — both significantly larger than competitors. For example, the 25-kilowatt model delivers roughly double the capacity of a single Tesla Powerwall, giving households power for up to 48 hours of backup energy.
Customers pay an upfront installation fee between $695 and $995, depending on battery size, followed by a small monthly subscription of $19 or $29. They also commit to purchasing electricity from Base Power for three years at 8.5 cents per kilowatt-hour, plus standard delivery fees.
This model allows Base Power to remove the financial burden of high upfront costs while offering long-term savings and grid resilience. Most traditional systems cost thousands more — and that’s before installation.
Why This $1B Investment Matters
The funding signals growing investor confidence in distributed energy storage, a sector becoming essential as extreme weather and grid instability rise across the U.S.
With this $1B injection, Base Power plans to expand beyond Texas, bringing affordable, high-capacity home batteries to more states. The company’s leasing model could reshape how homeowners think about energy independence — much like how solar leasing revolutionized rooftop energy adoption.
A New Chapter For The Clean Energy Transition
Base Power’s success shows how accessible financing, smart storage, and clean technology can align to accelerate the shift toward a decentralized energy future.
As the company scales its operations, more homeowners could soon power through outages, reduce reliance on the grid, and cut their carbon footprint — all without breaking the bank.
In short, Base Power raises $1B to deploy home batteries everywhere, and that might just be the spark that powers the next big leap in America’s clean energy revolution.
