All iPhone 14 models and newer come equipped with satellite-based features designed for safety and connectivity in remote areas. These include:
-
Emergency SOS via satellite
-
Find My via satellite
-
Messages via satellite
-
Roadside Assistance via satellite
Each feature’s availability varies by country, but all are designed to work when you’re outside Wi-Fi or cellular range. When connected, users can test the tools through a demo mode.
To check availability, open Control Center → Satellite → Connection Assistant on your iPhone. This tool lists every active Apple satellite feature available in your current region.

One major highlight is that Apple has not yet charged users for any of these satellite features. In September, the company announced an extra free year of service for all iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 users, giving them continued access to the entire satellite suite at no cost.

Recent iOS 26 beta code references a possible “Weather via satellite” feature — though Apple hasn’t confirmed whether it’s in development. If launched, it could enhance weather tracking in low-connectivity regions, adding another layer of functionality to Apple’s expanding satellite ecosystem.
