Collins Aerospace And RTX Confirm Cybersecurity Breach
Collins Aerospace, owned by defense contractor RTX (formerly Raytheon Technologies), confirmed in an SEC filing that the breach was ransomware-related. While the company declined to name the ransomware strain, it admitted the attack directly impacted its customer-specific check-in software networks.
The disclosure adds weight to growing concerns over cybersecurity vulnerabilities in aviation infrastructure, especially as attackers increasingly target critical industries.
NCA: Investigation Still Ongoing
Paul Foster, deputy director of the NCA’s National Cyber Crime Unit, said the arrest was a “positive step” but stressed that the investigation is in its early stages. “Although this arrest is a positive step, the investigation into this incident is in its early stages and remains ongoing,” he noted.
NCA officials confirmed they had nothing further to add beyond the public statement. The case underscores the challenges law enforcement faces in tackling ransomware groups that often operate internationally.
