Tesla Proposes New Pay Package for Elon Musk Worth Up to $1T

Tesla proposes new pay package for Elon Musk worth up to $1T, marking one of the most ambitious compensation plans in corporate history. The EV giant is linking Musk’s earnings to bold growth targets, including expanding Tesla’s valuation and advancing its push into robotics and AI.

A Trillion-Dollar Vision for Tesla’s CEO

The proposed 10-year plan could give Musk more than 423 million additional Tesla shares, raising his control to nearly 25%. For the package to unlock, Tesla would need to grow from its current $1 trillion valuation to over $8 trillion—a staggering leap that reflects Musk’s vision of Tesla as more than just a car company.

Musk has hinted in the past that he might leave Tesla without greater voting power. This new package seems designed not only to secure his leadership but also to keep him focused on Tesla’s transformation into a robotics and AI powerhouse.

Shareholder Vote on the Horizon

Tesla shareholders will vote on the proposal at the company’s annual meeting later this year. The move comes just a month after a Delaware judge struck down a previous $29 billion compensation package, prompting Tesla to revise and amplify its approach.

If approved, the plan would be among the largest CEO pay packages in corporate history—highlighting just how critical Musk is to Tesla’s long-term ambitions.

Why Tesla Says Musk Is "Vital"

In its SEC filing, Tesla described the world as being at a “critical inflection point” and positioned itself as the company to lead the transition to sustainable abundance. It emphasized that Musk’s “singular vision” is essential for navigating this transformation.

Tesla’s leadership tied the compensation plan to the company’s Master Plan Part IV, which outlines goals for affordable and scalable technologies. Though Musk gave it little public attention, Tesla insists the roadmap is central to its next phase of growth.

Beyond Cars: Tesla’s Push Into Robotics and AI

The pay package reflects Tesla’s shifting priorities. While its EV business faces challenges, the company is doubling down on humanoid robotics and artificial intelligence. Musk has repeatedly claimed these areas could redefine Tesla’s future and even surpass its car business in value.

If Tesla can deliver on these promises, Musk’s trillion-dollar package could become a reality. But if growth stalls, the ambitious plan may remain out of reach.
