Apple’s latest flagship is here, and iPhone 17 Pro Max's USB-C charging speeds tested with Apple chargers have revealed some interesting results. ChargerLAB ran tests using Apple’s lineup of adapters, ranging from the basic 18W charger all the way to the 140W MacBook Pro power brick.

Peak Charging Speeds Revealed

According to the tests, the iPhone 17 Pro Max reached a peak charging speed of around 36W when paired with several of Apple’s higher-wattage chargers. Supported adapters include:

  • 40W Dynamic Power Adapter (60W max)

  • 61W USB-C Power Adapter

  • 67W USB-C Power Adapter

  • 70W USB-C Power Adapter

  • 96W USB-C Power Adapter

  • 140W USB-C Power Adapter

This represents a bump compared to the iPhone 16 Pro Max, which maxed out at around 30W peak charging.

iPhone 17 Pro Max vs. iPhone 17 Pro

Interestingly, the smaller iPhone 17 Pro is expected to support the same 36W peak charging speeds. While that doesn’t put it anywhere near the rapid charging of some Android rivals, it does give Apple users a welcome speed boost for quick top-ups.

Why This Matters

With USB-C now standard across the iPhone 17 lineup, Apple users benefit from more flexibility in reusing MacBook and iPad chargers. For heavy users, this means less time tethered to a cable and more time with a fully charged device.
