Google’s Cheaper AI Plus Plan Is Now Available In Over 40 Countries
Google’s cheaper AI Plus plan is now available in over 40 countries, making advanced AI tools more accessible at just around $5 a month. This expansion includes markets like Kenya, Indonesia, Mexico, Nigeria, Vietnam, and Egypt—where Google aims to attract users with an affordable entry point into its AI ecosystem.

The plan, first launched in Indonesia earlier this month for Rp 75,000 ($4.50), is now rolling out globally. In select countries such as Nepal and Mexico, Google is offering a 50% discount for the first six months, making the subscription even more appealing.
What The AI Plus Plan Offers
With the AI Plus tier, subscribers unlock access to Gemini 2.5 Pro, along with creative tools like Flow, Whisk, and Veo 3 Fast for image and video generation. The plan also integrates AI features directly into Gmail, Docs, and Sheets, while providing 200GB of cloud storage.
Users also benefit from enhanced features on NotebookLM, Google’s AI-powered research assistant, designed to help students, professionals, and creators work smarter.
Competing With ChatGPT Go
The launch of Google’s cheaper AI Plus plan comes just a day after OpenAI expanded its sub-$5 ChatGPT Go plan to Indonesia. Both companies already offer premium $20 monthly subscriptions, but these lower-cost options signal a new battle for global AI adoption in emerging markets.
Interestingly, India is missing from Google’s rollout list, despite being one of the first countries where OpenAI launched ChatGPT Go. This suggests Google may be targeting smaller but fast-growing digital economies first.
Why This Matters
By expanding the cheaper AI Plus plan to more than 40 countries, Google is positioning itself as a leader in affordable AI access. This move not only boosts adoption but also challenges OpenAI’s aggressive global strategy. For users, it means high-quality AI tools are no longer limited to expensive subscriptions—AI is becoming accessible to a wider audience worldwide.
