Bigger and Brighter Display
The iPhone 17 now comes with a 6.3-inch screen, slightly larger than the 6.1-inch display of the iPhone 16. With the addition of ProMotion, it supports a 120 Hz refresh rate and dynamically shifts depending on what you’re doing, thanks to LTPO technology.
Apple has also pushed brightness to a peak of 3,000 nits, ensuring better legibility in bright sunlight. On top of that, the display is protected by Ceramic Shield 2, which promises stronger scratch resistance.
Power and Performance with A19 Chip
Under the hood, the iPhone 17 is powered by Apple’s new 3 nm A19 processor. A new display engine is included specifically to handle the high refresh rates, delivering both speed and efficiency. This makes the iPhone 17 one of the most powerful base models Apple has ever released.
Camera Upgrades Across the Board
Apple also introduced a 48-megapixel ultrawide camera that improves macro photography and enables 2x optical telephoto shots. For selfie lovers, the iPhone 17 brings an 18-megapixel square front sensor. This unique design allows for multiple formats without switching orientation.
Center Stage now works on the front camera, making video calls more engaging and keeping you in the frame automatically. Apple claims this will also deliver smoother video recording for creators and casual users alike.
Colors, Pricing, and Availability
The iPhone 17 will be available in lavender, mist blue, black, white, and sage. Pricing starts at $799 with 256GB storage, replacing the 128GB option found in the iPhone 16. In effect, Apple has raised the storage baseline while keeping the comparable pricing steady.
Preorders open this Friday, with general availability beginning on September 19.
