Eyebot Gets $20M Series A to Expand Eye Care Access
Eyebot gets $20M Series A to expand eye care access through its 90-second vision test kiosks, aiming to make prescriptions faster, more affordable, and more convenient. The Boston-based startup is on a mission to remove barriers that prevent millions from accessing timely eye care.

Founded in 2021, Eyebot has created a simple alternative to traditional eye exams. Instead of waiting weeks for an appointment, patients can walk up to a kiosk in a retail store, pharmacy, or even an airport and get a doctor-verified glasses prescription in under two minutes.
How Eyebot’s Vision Test Works
Each kiosk delivers a free 90-second vision test. Once completed, licensed eye doctors review and validate the results before approving prescriptions. This hybrid approach blends the speed of technology with the expertise of medical professionals, giving patients both confidence and convenience.
Eyebot kiosks are already found in malls, universities, grocery chains, and airports, with plans to rapidly expand nationwide following this latest funding round.
A Big Step Forward with Series A Funding
The new $20 million Series A investment brings Eyebot’s total funding to over $30 million. It comes just one year after the startup’s seed round in June 2024. Since then, Eyebot has carried out more than 45,000 free vision tests and is on pace to perform over half a million annually.
CEO and co-founder Matthias Hofmann says the growth has been transformative:
“We’ve gone from pilot programs to partnering with some of the largest companies in the U.S. Our kiosks are launching across the country, revenue is scaling, and we’ve doubled our team.”
Why Eyebot Stands Out
Several factors make Eyebot unique in the eye care space:
-
Speed and Accessibility – Prescriptions delivered in 90 seconds.
-
Affordability – Free vision tests available in everyday locations.
-
Medical Validation – Licensed doctors review every prescription.
-
Retailer Benefits – Kiosks drive additional customer traffic to partner locations.
By removing insurance complexities, cutting costs, and bringing eye care closer to consumers, Eyebot is reshaping how people think about vision health.
What’s Next for Eyebot?
With $20M in fresh funding, Eyebot plans to scale its kiosks across the U.S., form new retail and healthcare partnerships, and continue proving its model works at a national level. The startup envisions a future where vision care is as quick and accessible as grabbing a coffee.
As Hofmann puts it, the mission is simple: “Make high-quality eye care available to everyone, everywhere.”
