France Investigates X for Foreign Interference and AI Misuse

France Investigates X: What the Criminal Probe Means for Social Media Integrity France is officially launching a criminal investigation into X (formerly Twitter) over allegations of algorithm manipulation and foreign interference. The investigation, announced by the Paris prosecutor’s office, centers on suspicions that X’s platform and its AI chatbot Grok may have played a role in spreading disinformation or harmful content at the direction of foreign actors. The case marks one of the most serious European legal actions against Elon Musk’s company to date.
