Instacart's New CEO: Chris Rogers Takes the Helm Amid Strategic Shift

Looking for the latest on Instacart’s leadership changes? Instacart has officially appointed Chris Rogers, its Chief Business Officer, as the company’s new CEO—effective August 15, 2025. This executive move marks a pivotal moment for the online grocery delivery giant as it doubles down on digital innovation, ad revenue growth, and enhanced retail partnerships. Rogers will also join Instacart’s Board of Directors, reinforcing the company's mission to transform how consumers shop for groceries in the digital age.

The leadership transition follows outgoing CEO Fidji Simo’s announcement that she will step down to join OpenAI as CEO of Applications. Simo, a key figure in guiding Instacart through its recent evolution, will continue to serve as Chair of the Board. Her departure opens the door for Rogers, a seasoned business strategist, to lead the company into its next growth phase.

Chris Rogers is no stranger to retail strategy and technology innovation. Since joining Instacart in 2019, he has spearheaded core areas like retail partnerships, ad sales, Instacart Health, and the company’s business division. His prior experience includes over a decade at Apple, where he served as Managing Director for Apple Canada, and early career roots at Procter & Gamble managing top-tier grocery retail relationships. His track record reflects a deep understanding of both consumer needs and scalable business operations.

In a company press release, Rogers stated, “Instacart sits at the center of how people shop, eat, and care for their families — and that’s always been what inspires me most about our mission. Together with our partners, we’re transforming the future of grocery shopping and solving real, everyday needs.”

The new CEO emphasized a continued commitment to innovation, retail media network expansion, and creating flexible income opportunities for shoppers—key strategies for increasing both customer loyalty and advertising ROI. Rogers also reaffirmed that Instacart’s overarching vision will remain unchanged: to empower retailers, support brand visibility through digital ads, and improve access to healthy food.

In an internal letter, outgoing CEO Fidji Simo described Rogers as "instrumental in shaping Instacart’s trajectory" and expressed full confidence in his leadership. She also pledged her support during the transitional period, ensuring continuity and stability for both employees and partners.

As consumers increasingly turn to online platforms for grocery shopping, delivery services, and meal planning, Instacart’s executive reshuffle comes at a critical time. With Chris Rogers at the helm, the company appears well-positioned to scale operations, deepen retail alliances, and boost high-value advertising streams—driving both revenue growth and platform engagement.
