Waymo May Offer Self-Driving Cars for Personal Ownership in the Future Waymo, the autonomous vehicle division of Alphabet, may soon offer self-driving cars for personal ownership, according to a statement made by Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai. During a recent earnings call, Pichai shared that Waymo is exploring long-term options for expanding its business model. While the company continues to focus on expanding partnerships with companies like Moove in Miami and Uber in Austin (and soon Atlanta), Pichai mentioned "future optionality around personal ownership" as a potential avenue. This idea of offering self-driving cars for personal use is not a new one for Waymo.
