Fitbit to Delete User Data by 2026 If Not Migrated to Google Account

The Fitbit migration to Google Accounts started in 2023, and will be mandatory in February of 2026 to continue accessing your health data. Following the acquisition, that went away for a unified approach where you just sign-in with your existing Google Account. This was both simpler and improved security, especially with 2-Step Verification (2FA). Existing users could switch over, with Google limiting new features and devices (starting with the Pixel Watch 2 and Fitbit Charge 6) to the new accounts.  Originally, 2025 was the deadline for when a “Google account will be required to use Fitbit.” These changes were first previewed in September of 2022.  In an email to customers today, Google said February 2, 2026 is the new deadline: “If you do not move to a Google Account by the deadline, you will not be able to continue using the Fitbit service.” Additionally: “Your historical data will…
