Pixel Watch Emergency SOS Gets Safer with Confirmation Step
In an effort to prevent accidental activations during exercise and other activities, Google is adding a confirmation step to the Pixel Watch's Emergency SOS safety feature. This update arrives ahead of the next Wear OS update expected in March 2025. How Emergency SOS Worked Previously Previously, pressing the Pixel Watch's crown button five times in rapid succession would initiate a five-second countdown before automatically placing an emergency call. This could lead to accidental calls if the button were pressed unintentionally. Introducing the New Confirmation Step The new default behavior for Emergency SOS now requires users to hold the screen for three seconds after the initial five presses to confirm the call. This provides a crucial window to prevent accidental activations.
