YouTube's Premium Lite: A Cheaper, Ad-Limited Subscription
YouTube is once again testing a more affordable version of its premium subscription service, Premium Lite. This time, however, the service comes with a caveat: limited ads. The company confirmed the tests to Android Authority and The Verge, stating that they have been experimenting with a "different version" of the subscription with "some users in Australia, Germany, and Thailand for several months." According to screenshots shared by singer-songwriter Jonah Manzano, Premium Lite in Australia is priced at $8.99 AUD per month on the web, significantly lower than the $16.99 AUD cost for the full version of Premium. On iOS, the costs are $11.99 AUD for Premium Lite and $22.99 AUD for Premium.
