Paramount Plus Is Getting a Price Hike in Early 2026
Streaming fans will soon be paying more for their favorite shows as Paramount Plus is getting a price hike in early 2026. Starting January 15th, 2026, the Essential plan will increase from $7.99 to $8.99 per month, while the Premium plan will go up from $12.99 to $13.99. Paramount Global confirmed the change during its earnings announcement, adding that it will also retire its free trial offers, a move likely tied to boosting revenue amid rising content costs.

Why Is Paramount Plus Raising Prices Again?
Paramount says the price increase is part of its ongoing effort to balance streaming investments and profitability. The platform has been pouring money into hit originals like Halo, 1923, and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. Like Netflix, Disney+, and other competitors, Paramount Plus is adjusting its pricing to reflect higher content budgets and licensing costs.
What Will Happen to Paramount Plus Subscribers?
For existing users, the new Paramount Plus pricing takes effect automatically after January 15th, 2026. Those on annual plans may see the change upon renewal. The company also plans to phase out free trial options, meaning new subscribers will need to pay upfront. Despite the higher costs, Paramount is betting on its growing content lineup and bundled offerings with Showtime to keep viewers subscribed.
Is the Paramount Plus Price Hike Worth It?
While a $1 increase might seem small, subscribers are questioning whether the added cost delivers enough value. The Premium tier offers ad-free viewing, live CBS access, and more exclusive content, making it more appealing for heavy streamers. However, budget-conscious users may consider switching to the Essential plan or exploring limited-time bundles before prices go up.
