Even After Stargate, Oracle, Nvidia, and AMD, OpenAI Has More Big Deals Coming Soon, Sam Altman Says
Even after Stargate, Oracle, Nvidia, and AMD, OpenAI has more big deals coming soon, Sam Altman says. The AI powerhouse isn’t slowing down, despite already securing massive partnerships and investments from top tech giants. These deals are reshaping the AI landscape and signaling that OpenAI’s ambitions are only growing.

At nearly the same time Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang expressed surprise over OpenAI’s multibillion-dollar deal with competitor AMD — following Nvidia’s own $100 billion investment into the AI startup — Sam Altman revealed that additional big deals are on the horizon.
AMD Partnership: A Shareholder Twist
OpenAI’s deal with AMD is unlike anything seen before. AMD will grant OpenAI substantial tranches of its stock — potentially up to 10% over several years — based on performance factors like stock price increases. In return, OpenAI will help develop and use AMD’s next-generation AI GPU chips, making it a direct shareholder in the chipmaker.
By contrast, Nvidia’s investment in OpenAI makes Nvidia a shareholder in the AI startup. While OpenAI has long relied on Nvidia’s GPUs through cloud providers like Microsoft Azure, Oracle OCI, and CoreWeave, Huang explained that now OpenAI will buy directly from Nvidia for the first time.
Preparing for Self-Hosted AI Data Centers
These direct sales, which cover AI gear beyond GPUs — including networking and systems — are designed to prepare OpenAI for its future as a “self-hosted hyperscaler,” Huang said. Essentially, OpenAI aims to run its own massive data centers.
However, Huang acknowledged the immense cost. Each gigawatt of AI data center capacity could cost between $50 and $60 billion, covering land, power, servers, and equipment. OpenAI doesn’t yet have all the funding for this massive expansion.
Massive Deals Already Underway
In 2025 alone, OpenAI has commissioned 10 gigawatts of U.S. AI facilities through its $500 billion Stargate deal with Oracle and SoftBank. It also signed a $300 billion cloud contract with Oracle. Its Nvidia partnership covers at least 10 gigawatts of data center power, while its AMD partnership adds 6 gigawatts.
OpenAI is also expanding in the U.K. with its “Stargate UK” initiative and has other European projects underway, all signaling that the AI giant is accelerating toward global dominance.
Even after Stargate, Oracle, Nvidia, and AMD, OpenAI has more big deals coming soon, Sam Altman says — and the tech world is watching closely to see what’s next.
