A New Alliance For Europe’s Autonomous Future

The nonbinding agreement aims to create robotaxis built on Stellantis’ electric medium-size van platform, enhanced with advanced sensors and AI-driven navigation systems. By integrating Pony AI’s autonomous technology, the partnership targets safe, scalable, and efficient self-driving fleets for urban mobility.

The companies will begin testing the first vehicles in Luxembourg, where Pony AI’s European headquarters are based. Early models will be developed from the Peugeot e-Traveller, an electric van ideal for robotaxi conversion.

Testing Begins In Luxembourg Before Wider Rollout

The testing phase is set to begin in the coming months, with a broader rollout expected across major European cities in 2026. Luxembourg’s favorable regulatory environment for autonomous driving makes it the perfect launchpad for the pilot program.

This collaboration will not only help Pony AI establish a European footprint but also help Stellantis accelerate its shift toward AI-powered mobility services.

Pony AI Expands Global Ambitions

The partnership comes shortly after Pony AI announced a collaboration with Uber to introduce autonomous rides in international markets, including Europe and the Middle East. Earlier this year, Pony AI also received an autonomous vehicle testing permit from Luxembourg, further solidifying its expansion plans.

Beyond partnerships, Pony AI is eyeing global capital markets. Already listed on the Nasdaq, the company is pursuing a secondary listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange to fund its international growth and R&D in autonomous driving technology.

Why This Matters For Europe’s EV And Mobility Landscape

The move signals a new chapter in Europe’s transition toward electric and autonomous vehicles. By leveraging Stellantis’ EV platforms and Pony AI’s proven AI systems, the companies are well-positioned to compete with rivals like Waymo and Cruise in the fast-growing robotaxi sector.

As European cities increasingly embrace sustainable transport, the Stellantis and Pony AI partnership could redefine how people move, combining zero-emission vehicles with fully autonomous technology for a safer, cleaner urban future.
