Meta’s New Pro-AI Strategy
The super PAC, called the American Technology Excellence Project, is Meta’s latest weapon against restrictive state AI laws. Just last month, the company launched a California-focused PAC to back candidates aligned with tech-friendly policies.
By creating a nationwide fund, Meta is expanding its influence beyond California and aiming to shape AI regulation across multiple states.
Who’s Running Meta’s Super PAC?
According to Axios, the PAC will be led by Republican strategist Brian Baker and the Democratic consulting firm Hilltop Public Solutions. This bipartisan leadership shows Meta’s plan to appeal to both sides of the aisle in next year’s elections.
A Meta spokesperson, Rachel Holland, explained that the group’s mission will be to:

Why Parental Controls Are A Key Issue
Meta is emphasizing parental oversight at a time when child safety concerns around AI are growing. The company has faced criticism after leaked documents showed that some of its chatbots engaged in “romantic” conversations with minors. Whistleblowers have also accused Meta of downplaying internal research on risks to children.
By highlighting parental control, Meta is likely trying to ease concerns while still pushing back against stricter state regulations.
State-Level AI Regulations On The Rise
The timing of Meta’s super PAC is no coincidence. With more than 1,000 AI-related bills introduced across all 50 states in 2025, local governments are stepping in where federal policymakers have stalled.
In California, two bills are awaiting Governor Gavin Newsom’s decision:
